LOCATION: With a wooded 604-acre campus centrally located on Long Island, the nation's 16th largest population center, Old Westbury offers the best of both worlds - a quiet atmosphere dedicated to learning yet just 20 miles from the heart of New York City.Â
STUDENTS & ALUMNI:Â 4,422 students from across the United States and more than 20 foreign countries; among the most culturally diverse student populations in the Northeast. More than 17,000 alumni can be found around the world.Â
FACULTY: 122 full-time; 82 % hold terminal degree in their field. A 17:1 student-to-faculty ratio.
CURRICULUM: Comprehensive, with 45 undergraduate majors and 16 minors in both liberal arts and professional fields. 15 graduate degree programs.Â
DEGREES: Undergraduate: Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Professional Studies. Graduate: Master of Science in Accounting, Master of Science in Taxation.Â
ACCREDITATION: Middle States Commission on Higher Education, National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (School of Education), American Chemical Society (B.S. in Chemistry).Â
STUDENT LIFE: Active and diverse with more than 50 student organizations, including a student-run newspaper, fraternities, sororities, academic organizations, and community service groups.Â
ATHLETICS: 13 NCAA Division III intercollegiate athletic programs competing in the Skyline Conference.Â
FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: 60% of students receive either need-based aid or merit-based scholarships. FAFSA, an Institutional Financial Aid application, and a Signed Student Aid Record are required to apply for aid.Â
ADMISSIONS REQUIREMENTS: Selective. Applications considered on a rolling basis. Approximately 43 percent of Freshman applications are accepted. Transfer students earning more than 24 credit hours of college work will be evaluated based on that work.
